Terms of Use

Using the app

The app is free. You may install it from Google Play and use it for any personal, educational or professional purpose. By using the app or the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

The dictionary is a learning aid

Translations come from open sources: Wiktionary, the Peace Corps Setswana lessons, J. Brown's Secwana Dictionary (1895) and a Setswana Bible translation aligned with the World English Bible. They are shown as the sources give them and have not yet been checked by a native speaker. Some may be incomplete, dated or wrong.

Do not rely on the app alone where a mistake could matter, such as legal, medical, financial or official communication. Ask a qualified translator instead. If you find an error, please tell us.

Content and licences

The dictionary data is built from sources under open licences and in the public domain. Parts of it are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0, and you may reuse those parts under the same licence. The full list, with attribution, is on the sources and licences page.

The app's software, design and the Roona name are ours and are not covered by those licences.

Privacy

How the app and the site handle data is described in the privacy policy.

Changes and availability

No warranty

The app and the site are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for any loss that results from using them or relying on their translations, except where the law does not allow this to be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law of your country.
